On Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, Miller was on his way home from Philadelphia when traffic slowed in front of him. Miller pulled his motorcycle off to the side of the two-way highway and was shocked when he realized what was causing the traffic jam.

“I looked down to see why everyone was stopping and there was a bald eagle in the middle of the road,” Miller told The Dodo. “Another person was there and they kind of nudged her a little bit to see if she would walk off the road or fly away. She spread her wings open and was not going to go anywhere.”

An avid animal lover, Miller knew he had to help the injured bird get out of harm’s way.

The large animal was too hurt to fly, but her powerful talons were reason enough for Miller to take off his favorite flannel and throw it over her. To Miller’s surprise, the eagle remained sedate as he wrapped her in the shirt.

“I picked her up and she was very calm,” Miller said. “She got a little worked up when people started wanting to take pictures, but we were able to get that under control.”

Once Miller moved the eagle out of the road, he called 911 and eventually got in touch with Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, a local rehabilitation center for wild birds. Miller held the 15-pound bird for about 45 minutes while waiting for rescue staffers to arrive. But the time seemed to pass quickly.

“I wasn’t really thinking about it when I was holding her,” Miller said. “I was just trying to keep her calm and make sure she knows she’s secure, and I wasn’t going to drop her or anything.”

“It was just amazing to hold that bird and for her to be calm like that,” Miller added. “Just amazing.”

After a few days of treatment, the rescue is confident that the bald eagle will eventually be able to be released into the wild.

“She had a mild injury to one eye and soft tissue injuries, but no broken bones,” Rebecca Stansell with Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research told The Dodo. “Her wounds were treated by our wildlife veterinarian while the eagle was under anesthesia. The unexpected can always happen, but we are optimistic that she will make a full recovery.”

As for Miller’s favorite flannel, it has certainly seen better days.

The shirt now has a few large talon holes in it, but Miller knows it was for the best cause — and he will definitely be wearing it again.

Chelsea is only three weeks older than hunter and both are under the care of the Wildlife Sanctuary in Pretoria, South Africa.

Sadly, the tiger cub Hunter was rejected by his own mother a few days after he was born.

Unfortunately, his mother started showing aggressive behavior towards him which meant he had to be separated from her.

“We believe that Hunter was born at a time when the female must have felt compromised in some way as she rejected him,” Anthea Michaletos, volunteer at the sanctuary said.

Thanks to Anthea, these little fellas are now inseparable. “In the mornings when I take Chelsea out, she will run to his cage and greet him,” she said.

“There is a lot of wrestling involved, Chelsea pushes him over and then he jumps on her.

For him to have a four legged friend is very helpful because he can play in the same way that he would with another litter mate.

He was the only cub in his litter and it’s very important for him to have a companion.”

Companionship is very important, the puppy even becomes sad whenever it’s time for them to separate during the day.

This unlikely duo spend a lot of their time playing together under the caretaker’s supervision.

Sadly though, according to Anthea, this bond could end in a few months when Hunter reaches the age of six-months where it will be dangerous for Chelsea if they continue playing.

So far though, Chelsea doesn’t show signs of discomfort, and their wonderful friendship can continue on.

Lucy Ledgeway, a 19-year-old from York, England, was devastated when her beloved pet dog Sunny passed away. The 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier died after suffering a seizure.

In the house after Sunny died, Lucy was grieving hard, and took a car ride with her boyfriend to get some air and clear her head.

They passed a spot where she used to take Sunny for walks, and Lucy wanted to feel her dog’s presence somehow.

“It was so weird. I was thinking to myself that I wanted to see Sunny in the sky as a sign that she was OK,” she told the Daily Mail.

But then, she looked up into the clouds… and saw her dog’s face. “I was crying my eyes out and I looked up in the sky and saw Sunny.”

“my dog passed away in my dads arms this morning seconds before setting off to the vets. later in the day we went out to clear our head and i cried to my boyfriend in the seat she died in, just begging for a sign that she’s okay. this is what I was blessed with??”

Some non-believers might see nothing or think it’s just a coincidence, but for Lucy, it was all the proof she needed to know her dog was in a better place.

“After seeing Sunny in the sky I felt a warmth. It was her way of telling us that she is OK,” Lucy said.

She took a photo of the inspiring vision, which went viral after she shared it on Twitter. It’s received over 100,000 likes, with many dog lovers expressing their sympathy… and some even sharing similar stories of visions in the clouds:

Alicia reached out to many local rescuers and informed them of Steve’s situation. Everyone was touched by the homeless man’s sincere love for his dogs. They convinced the man to stop camping outside and temporarily arranged for his stay at a pet-friendly motel. Later, they shared his story on social media and started a fundraiser to help him with his journey.

The fundraiser was met with a staggering response as hundreds of people chipped in to help Steve take care of his dogs. Thanks to the generous donations, the rescuers were able to get Steve’s dogs the medical attention they needed within a couple of days!

Poor Steve had a hard time believing that all the kindness bestowed on him was real. The rescuers didn’t want Jordan to give in to his abusive injuries. They showered the dog with love and begged him to hold on. It was a complete miracle when the dog was ready for surgery within 4 days!

The leg surgery was a success, but Jordan still had to deal with mange and bacterial infections. In the meantime, he was moved to his foster home where his foster mom and doggie siblings constantly motivated him to keep fighting.
